I have driven a manual car(or stick shift as we call it) and it was horrible. The one and only time i ever stole my parents car I could barely even get it into gear, and i stalled out at every traffic light, and of course everyone behind me was honking their horns when the light turned green. and it was so traumatic that i never did it again.

Yeah, the whole gear thing is the hardest part of learning to drive. Here though if you sit your driving test in an automatic car you're still not licensed to drive a manual until you pass the test in a manual car

I once took a company test in a Land Rover with, effectively, 20 manual gears :

4 forward gears, 1 reverse (main gear stick - black) - normal
high ratio and low ratio lever (red knob on top) - doubles gears to 10
2wd or 4wd (yellow knob) - 2 wheel drive for normal road driving and 4 wheel drive for off-road or when road conditions require - e.g. ice and snow)

Luckily, I didn't get the model with additional Fairey Overdrive .....

Auto annie,as they are the only cars my brother has,but I got used to them when I lived there,so it's no problem for me,more of a problem is remembering to drive on the right side of the road,lol.

Yeah I felt that way too, I did 3 months of lessons when I turned 17 but my instructor was terrible (he smoked cigarettes while I drove...) and I had no passion for it at all, then when I was 19 and home from uni for the summer my mum decided to book me a theory test so I had to learn theory without having driven a car in like two years, which I passed, and then it was due to expire this summer just past so I started learning to drive again and managed to pass in 65 days which I was pretty proud of. I have a passion for it now but I think I'm quite nervous because I really wasn't learning for very long and then I had to go back to uni so I've barely driven a car since I passed in August.

Women don't need gears other than 1st and 3rd.

Congrats!! Was it your first test? I was so cocky when I took my test that I had arranged to pick some friends up that night. Needless to say I failed and had to get the bus!! Gutted. I passed second time but didn't even tell anyone it was my test that time.

Thanks guys! My examiner was a right knob, so reluctant to pass me; he was like, 'i'm happy to tell you, you've passed' and I was like 'are you actually serious?' then he was like 'well it wasn't very good though was it' and I was like 'well it will ****ing do me, thanks'... my instructor was furious with the guy, so so rude.

He was just pissed I didn't do enough from to fail me.. could just tell he didn't like me. Complaint submitted!
