Yeah I really can't wait, I went to the doctor about it back in August thinking it was some kind of cancer because you know, you find a lump on the back of your head and you start thinking it's Stage 5 (there is no Stage 5!!!!), game over, say my goodbyes... got told it was a cyst and nothing to worry about, asked if I could get it removed, doctor said that because I was about to go back to uni I should just go to my doctor there because I'd have to be referred to get it removed and it'd be easier if I did it down there...

So I went to the uni doctor who was extremely condescending and was saying stuff like "we don't remove it for cosmetic reasons" (the cyst is under my skin hidden in my hair, nobody else can even see it) and I'm like "I don't care about that, I want it removed" and he said "well I can refer you if that's what you really want... but it'll leave a scar..." and again, it's in my hair, I really don't care. So he said he'd refer me but I still never received a letter for it. Then late November it was noticeably bigger (2cm in diameter... huge lump to have on the back of your head!) and my scalp was hurting so I went to the doctor who said it had erupted under my skin and it had caused an infection... so then when I was at home I went to the GP who said that even though it had erupted and needed to be removed, it was so big, they couldn't do it at the GP which is why a plastic surgeon is dealing with it because it'll need stitches and the surgeon will need to look at it again two weeks after it's removed... just so much hassle trying to get somebody to say "yes, you need to have this removed", glad a date's finally been sorted out to have it removed.

It hurts when I'm getting changed, when my head's on my pillow, if I lean forwards or backwards... definitely needs to go! Just another 3 months to get through :/

..wow, it's really bad that you had to insist about it though because even if it wasn't causing you much discomfort, they usually remove things like that straight away just in cause it gets bigger or erupts like it did with you and removing it in the first place would have been the obvious thing and then it might have even been possible for you to just have it done by your GP...you'll be in safe hands with a plastic surgeon though and they are very neat sewers for your stitches....

Well I know that's the thing, you're always told to go to the doctor to get any suspicious lumps checked out, so to be treated like you're a moron and be talked down to when you do go is really inappropriate, it probably sounds silly but I'm actually glad it got infected because it feels like a giant middle finger to that doctor even though he won't ever know about it and he wouldn't be able to pick me out of a line up.

That sounds genuinely awful Greg, I had one that was around 2cm on my cheek when I was very young, it was horrible, it went away by itself after a few months. I hope the removal goes smoothly and that you don't get any more trouble afterwards.

The really condescending doctor was trying to tell me that mine would go away of its own accord, I was really hoping I'd get him when I went to the doctor to get medication for it when it was infected they're waiting 3 months to remove it because they want the cyst to settle down so that they can remove it completely which is why I have to wait until April... just praying that it doesn't get infected again between now and then, if it does then the surgery will have to be postponed for 3 months!

Hope everything goes well!
I used to always go to the doctors and pretend moles I had were irritating me, just so I could get them removed. (So I can look flawless. Durh.)
But obviously this is a much bigger deal.
