Hmm, I don't know. I generally don't mention it/moan in real life because my sister has pretty much every medical condition possible and is in and out of hospital all the time so it could always be worse. I'll just have to see what happens in the future... I think my parents would have a breakdown if I told them I was having therapy. I don't think they could cope with any more medical related news so I should provably leave it.

...hmmm, I don't know your parents so I don't know how they would feel about it and it's lovely that you're considering them first in this and I'm sorry to hear about your sister, Richard...but you know, just because other people are worse off, doesn't give your condition any less importance or makes you worry about it less because it just doesn't work that way...we can empathise with others but we can't take on what they go through so sometimes we have to concentrate on ourselves and what our stuff is..it's kind of up to you Richard, and I know you'll do what's best but also think about what's best for you maybe because you can go to your GP and talk to them about it and if they refer you for therapy, then your parents will probably be fully supportive of you...but whether you do it now or maybe another time, it's something that you don't have to make a decision about right now but something that may help you...there are self help things you can do for anxiety and relaxation as well...

I have something called crohns disease I was diagnosed in 2009 and im on medication for it. I go for regular hospital checks. It is inflammation of your bowel and before I was diagnosed with it I thought it might be cancer. You cant get off the toilet and have constant diaroeahha and pains that someone once told me were worse than labour pains (I don't have kids so cant compare) I also take 1 codeine a day for it now but when it was it was really bad I was on 8 30mg codeine per day as well as 8 paracetamols.
Ive also got carpol tunnel in my hands and sciatica in my back oh and @ the moment ive got a fungal nail infection lol

Thankfully most of my illnesses or conditions are physical not mental. These are on show and are accepted by Society.

Mental Illness is hidden from the casual friend or stranger so it is more of a shock when you admit to people that you are mentally ill........most people react to that with shock and suspicion and then pigeonhole you into a category that means you are discriminated against from that moment onwards........!!!!

I am deaf in my left ear, have been since a small child and although it cant be seen it is sometimes extremely embarrassing especially when groups are talking and people talk in a soft voice,I can hear with my right one fine so do hear normal everyday stuff, but if say ,I lie in bed watching TV ,I have to lie on my left side so I can hear it, people with a certain tone of voice I find quite difficult and sometimes I get mistaken for being ignorant,I'm not I don't don't hear sometimes, and that tightness you get Vicky, does it feel like cramp? as I have it sometimes,I cant move but have always put it down to cramp.

..oh I had forgotten about my ear because I don't think of it as an 'illness' as such, it's something from a previous thing but it's a bit different from yours because it's a constant buzzing but when I'm tired or stressed or anything it gets much worse and can be very uncomfortable and difficult to sleep with especially..also, like you I have problems with certain noises/voices/pitches in that they are physically painful and make me flinch which can be really embarrassing...

What does costochondritis feel like?
Costo is an inflammation of the rib cartilage, and is sometimes diagnosed by pushing on the sternum, (area at the top where your ribs join) or by pushing on any sore spot on your ribs. Either should cause intense pain. *However*, not everyone with CC will respond like that.

In the beginning, costo is usually worse,it feels like there is an elephant sitting on your chest, it hurts to breathe, ribs hurt all over with intermittent sharp, stabbing pains, and usually a few "sore spots" on your ribs, that you would faint if someone poked you there. You might also feel like you are having a heart attack. Eventually, it might go down to a dull, but constant ache, or simply the feeling of sore ribs. It hurts to wear a bra, and different motions, like picking a child up from the floor, can cause a flare up, with intense pain. When it is a chronic condition, it tends to wax and wane, come and go. It might be better for a while, then you will reach for something in the wrong position and bam!, it is right back again.
http://www.cfids-cab.org/cfs-inform/Ic/costomm.htm

Might be the same thing, could affect people dfferently. But I honestly just st and cry until the codeine kicks in.thats how bad it is. And I consider myself to have a high pain tolerance too

Do you have tinnitus ammi ? my deafness is due to a mastoid I had as a child, over the years and several operations later it left me deaf and I cannot have an aid due to there being no bone to support one,I could have one bolted to my skull but really don't fancy that, lol,I hear what I need to for now.

I had to shake a few peoples hand on my work experience and the looks on all of their faces was painful when I did, one even wiped their hand on their trousers afterwards. It probably sounds silly reading it here but when this always happens it really knocks your confidence, knowing every time you touch someone in any way you'll get that reaction. Even high fiving someone is impossible.

It can affect the rest of my body too in high temperatures so I always have to dress really light in the summer and generally stick to white/black shirts or else I look like a complete mess. The worst thing is that there's no medication that makes it better, you're stuck with it for life, which does make me concerned about the future in terms of jobs and relationships and such.
My boyfriend has that too and it doesn't even bother me tbh, he's very clean so it doesn't really cause me to be disgusted or anything, heck I even held his hand in 35 degrees, I would say you shouldn't think too much what people think, it's something that you can't control and if people judge you for that then they don't deserve your respect.

..you never know, maybe an aid might be created that you could use because they're always being able to do new stuff..?...that would be perfect for you, I don't blame you for not wanting to have one surgically though because I would never elect to have any surgery unless I was forced to...it's not exactly tinnitus, it's kind of a throbbing sound and hard to explain..it was after surgery and due to a nerve being damaged and also some other stuff which is a bit too gruesome to describe but really it could have been so much worse and facial paralysis so I'm quite lucky..there are days when it's not so bad and others when it really gets me down and the worst is probably not being able to hear music as well as I could...

I think the only thing that cures excessive sweating is botox, the thing that makes it worse is you probably worry its going to happen hence it happening.

Oh and I use driclor for excessive sweating in the summer and it works 100% for me. Just went to the bathroom and looked at the bottle and it says "For treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive perspiration).

I've already tried that I think I've tried everything available, none of them have worked.

Yeah I've heard about that but again like the iontophoresis it's only a temporary fix and I've heard it's quite expensive. I could always give it a go sometime in the future.

Insomnia to me is a very serious illness I have it and have to take pills every ****ing night otherwise I physically cant fall asleep, The insomnia is a side effect from medication I have to take to treat Epilepsy and the ironic thing is someone with Epilepsy is prone to dangerous seizures if they don't get enough sleep. YAY!

Typical.

Yeah, I think many people are OCD to an extent. Rituals/persistent checking and that.

i have ocd to extreme
its bursting out of my every seam.
but open and honest under no cover
and that's why i love this is big brother.
everyone has big or small errors
its not at all surprising and brings no terrors.
its all about management and accepting
thats why we all need to have compassion and be a little less rejecting.
