Its alright for the likes of us isn't it? who have been brought up to believe same sex relationships are normal but to the Russians and a lot of other countries around the world the majority do not think its normal,I cant condemn her for having her own ideas, I just understand the situation and move on

I completely understand what your saying here, but I think the 'over-reaction' and anger towards her comments were more to do with the fact that the majority of us were fans of hers, and personally I never thought she would say these things.

I was talking about Russians and other countries in a general sense then, her ideas are obviously based on her upbringing in Russia, she for whatever reason has decided to accept lesbians though

Her upbringing is a weak excuse. I was born in a heavily racist area but that doesn't mean that I'm going to swallow all the **** I was told I should believe when I was a kid. I didn't accept it then and I don't accept it now. This woman is just a ****ty human being that would turn on her own children for simply having the 'wrong' sexuality. Something they cannot control.

Its a tiny bit different being brought up in England then Russia, the influence in Russia is much more visable then anything over here, if your born in Russia, Grow up in Russia and love Russia then your certaintly going to believe the Russian ways, would you say the area you grow up in had no one that could guide you towards believing equality? Would you say the same about Russia?

I've seen you get a bit of stick for this but I partly agree with what you say. I wouldn't say it on the topic itself because I don't want it closed through arguments but I have always seen it as a bit distasteful in my own opinion. But I just added that to back you up, I have no desire to open up a can of worms so that's that on that issue as far as I'm concerned.

That being said for the last bit I am pretty confident that this forum will have a disproportionate amount of homosexual males on it so homophobia will be a big issue here and I accept that, I have no problem with that. Homophobia needs stamping out anyway so it benefits us all.
