Yeah, I understand that... but surely it would be helpful if they could raise the numbers within the police. A good friend of mine was in the CID for a long time, and he's gay. He put up with all kinds of comments and abuse but things are improving now as the generations go on. The same with female officers, they had to run the gauntlet of sexism for years.

I have never heard the police make a racist remark. But then, I probably wouldn't, would I.

It was a police officer who made that comment in Jan 2013, just over a year ago. Doesn't seem, to have gotten much better, does it?

he rose to Superintendent and was a founding member and former chairman of the Metropolitan Black Police Association. So he seemed to do well for himself.

Why would he lie? HE doenst seem to be particularly angry as you have said he's done well for himself.

So are you saying he's lying and young officers dont have to put with horrendous racist language directed at BAME suspects and they dont have to watch Asian and black men being stopped inappropriately. Why would make up stuff like that?

Yes.........I agree with you but I think we are more concerned with the idea of institutionalised racism not just the odd case here and there.
