Yeah I can think of more than a few times BBUS has had an overdose of riggage in it, I wouldn’t exactly call their twists more fair and balanced

What I like about BBUS specifically is that anyone has a chance throughout no matter how much the people in there or the public hate them. There's the HOH comp, POV comp, the ability to convince one person (HOH or veto holder) to save you or a group of people to save you (or even the help of America/production with a twist). And the twists are limited/not too overpowered most of the time where it doesn't totally screw others out of the game.

For the show’s Nineteen Eighty-Four roots it’s absolutely necessary, but to be fair the US has always shied away from the Orwell references.

Because the whole premise of the show is about Big Brother watching and basically being in control. As Scoot mentioned, it's part of the roots of the 1984 concept. Part of the show is housemates (or "houseguests", as the US calls them) being shown authority.

I love the sterness of BBAU’s nominations but I preferred the original 2 points/1 points system, 3 or more are up. The 5 point system got a bit silly by the end I thought.

Oh yeah I also preferred the earlier points format for sure. I loved how the nominations became almost interrogations when housemates weren't giving satisfactory reasons

The Australian Big Brother (as in the figure of Big Brother) best captured the whole all seeing dictator vibe.

Honestly, regardless of the roots, I like the US's twist on it as I personally find people referring to a random person in the DR as "big brother" to be a bit cringey.

Maybe the US Big Brother is a bit shy
