The TV adaptation of The Shining is brilliant. It's much more true to the book than the movie.

It is a much better adaptation and closer to the book, and nails the Jack character unlike... well... Jack. Again though it suffers from the basic problem of being "pre-2000's TV" - that is to say, TV shows just didn't get the sort of budget (and therefore production and acting quality) that they do today.

I've only seen 1408 once, I found it watchable but that's it really. Christine is the same, a fun enough watch but not more. The sorts of films you watch once. Thinner isn't very good, and I'm personally not a huge Carrie fan either...

I read the book when I was working in the states. It was released in parts (6iirc) and I had to wait for the guy I worked for to read it first. It id one of my faves though.....film and book

I watched the first 30 minutes and just got bored. It just didn’t capture my interest unlike Shawshank

The Green Mile is a brilliant film. Kirk is right; Green Mile and Shawshank both easily transcend the rating of "Great Stephen King film" into just straight up "great film".

I do also love how all of his works are interconnected, e.g. the concept of the "Shine", which both father and son have in The Shining (obviously) but also loads of other characters, like John Cofey (seems to have it more strongly than any other character), Mother Abigail in The Stand (and arguably, most if not all of the plague survivors to varying extent), Stan in IT, etc.

Love OG Carrie, it's just so messed up it's brilliant.

Carrie the remake wasn't bad either, again much truer to the book (where she wreaks havoc all the way home and basically sets the whole town on fire).

Apparently Amazon has picked up The Dark Tower TV show which could be great ***i******* they go in a completely different direction to last year's movie, and do it properly. The Tower is the thing that ties together King's "Universe" and it deserves to be treated well .
