People appear to be mixing up the NHS volunteers who are being asked to help out with the 1.5 who will be shielded and nursing staff
They're putting legislation in place to temporarily register final year students as fully paid, fully functional band 5 RNs. They don't have the staffing for them to be supervised; that's the whole point. No they won't be doing advanced procedures like intubating but they'll be functioning as NQNs when they're not assessed or qualified to do so... It's a bit of a shambles.

From what i gather it's retired doctors and nurses who are asked to go back to work to help , therefore they don't need training.

Other people volunteering will probably be doing other stuff to help.
