Well I don't know about him knowing what he is doing tbf.

But despite saying that I do agree with Boris on trying to get as many people to help the NHS that can Humanly be available to help.

I don't think having untrained people is a good idea. ... Sorry but I don't, who is going to be training them? Are they going to be vetted adequately?

The fundamental need is to have people capable of operating ventilators. That's a very small, specific skill, it doesn't require full medical training. This is about keeping people alive, nothing more

The volunteers are delivering food and medicine to those being shielded, I don’t think they are being trained on ventilators

I think he's doing a great job so far. Firm, but fair.
I just hope people listen and keep going out to a minimum.

This is also the issue with them suddenly "temporarily registering" final year student nurses as full nurses... there seems to be this idea that as they're "nearly finished" they must be competent. But at the end of the final year of nursing training, there is a long final placement, and on that placement, they're assessed for their competency to be entering the profession. That hasn't happened yet for current final year students.

I don't think they realise how many fail that placement and have to repeat, and are thus not competent to be practicing as registered nurses without supervision. Scary ****.

Even the ones who do eventually pass, often have areas of incompetency picked up early in that last placement and the whole point of the placement is that they work on those areas to achieve competency.

Unless the NHS want a raft of law suits, they will be supervised and will act as support to existing staff to cover breaks etc

People appear to be mixing up the NHS volunteers who are being asked to help out with the 1.5 who will be shielded and nursing staff

Look at this idiot...

Technology expert*Alex Hamilton*, from Northampton, was among the first to sign up.

"I'm working from home but it's quiet. I'm doing a lot of gardening and this is an opportunity to do something to help - I've volunteered to do anything necessary."

His wife has a low immune system after having breast cancer twice and says she has concerns "about what I could be bringing back".

"But I want to do good," he said.

He can't even keep his own wife safe! If you want to do good don't expose your wife to a killer virus!

The government scheme to recruit 250,000 helpers - who must be over 18 and in good health - went live on Tuesday.

By Wednesday morning, they had exceeded their target, after many thousands signed up to*Good Sam*, the group coordinating the response.

There's no mention of vetting for the people tasked with helping the vulnerable, I know there are wonderful people out there but sadly this situation had also brought out an ugly side that is exploiting people during the crisis.

They're putting legislation in place to temporarily register final year students as fully paid, fully functional band 5 RNs. They don't have the staffing for them to be supervised; that's the whole point. No they won't be doing advanced procedures like intubating but they'll be functioning as NQNs when they're not assessed or qualified to do so... It's a bit of a shambles.

They are being vetted, they need a DBS check! and if they have a current one have to upload it
