Fairburn was a League legend instead, and his name is legendary in the city of Hull to this day. If you asked an Hul KR fan to name their greatest ever full back, they'd all say Fairburn.

In them days Rugby union was an amateur sport, it only became professional in I think it was 1989. So George was playing in the professional sport of rugby league and getting paid for playing, it was still part time and he had a regular job at the same time, but he did get paid for playing rugby league. That's why loads of union players like Tait and Jonathan Davies ect moved to League.

Now it's all changed around and there's far more money in Union, and now they can take all our best players from league.

League scouts used to come up watch all the border sevens tournaments to poach players from the beautiful side of the game.

You should get yourself a rugby league club together in that area, and apply to get in Super league. You'll have a big pool of talent to choose from.

I'd love to travel up there for an away game.
