![]() My Dad rarely listens to TV commentary - he mutes the TV and listens to the radio commentary as he finds it better. I am sure there is something you can do so you can still enjoy the games where there are female commentators. With regards to the boxing - anyone who gets hit in the head over and over runs the risk of concussion. The women who compete train for years in order to compete and will be fully aware of the risks ![]()

I did explain.. I simply don’t know how good they were as players or how qualified they are to comment .. the same principle applies to male or female Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by Zizu; 29-01-2024 at 02:45 PM. |

![]() What is your opinion on Sam Matterface? He hasn't played at premier level and so you don't know how qualified he is....yet I don't see threads on him ruining the game. The women have pretty much all played for prem league clubs and quite often for the national side so know the game

No one and nothing is worse than Lee Dixon and/or Steve McManaman on commentary. Give me any woman in the world over those two!
However, there has been a massive influx of women doing commentary and punditry on men's football over the past 2 or 3 years and it's all because these companies want to show their political correctness. It's quantity, not quality and ticking all the right boxes for these major broadcasters. Most of the women shoehorned in really aren't that knowledgeable and saying some absolute ridiculous stuff. But the big "however" is that most of the men do too, and always have. Emma Hayes is someone who stands out for me, i like her a lot. And Kate Abdo as a presenter who i think is an excellent presenter. Not many blokes stand out for me really. I guess Carragher is alright, as much of a knob he's been in the past. Erm, yeah see i can't even think of male presenters and pundits who i care for tbh. Women on men's football doesn't bother me. 95% of male and female pundits and commentators are meh.

You’ve probably hit the nail on the head ! It’s quantity rather than quality !! Sue Smith for example on Soccer Saturday seems very knowledgeable and makes more sense than Gabbie Agbonlahor or Jamie O’Hara . Thing is those two guys are RARELY seen on our screens as they are useless.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I always liked JT as a pundit, but any spare time he has after coaching, he's probably out shagging other players wives, and in the bookies.

i don't think anyone has explored the angle that having more women involved in sport in general, not just football, opens sport up to 50% of the population. It's a simple fact that having female involvement opens the sport up to being accessible and acceptable to women. 2 guys arguing about the size of their dicks as pundits, just doesn't cut it

![]() Karen Carney for example had a 18 year playing career.....including arsenal. Chelsea and England. I'd say she was pretty qualified and so your comment in the op where you said the women deserve the same respect as someone pulled off a corridor is pretty insulting to someone who dedicated 18 years of her life to the game. Comments like that is why you feel you are getting attacked for sexism because that reeks of it I'm afraid

I watched all the ex players on tv obviously .. You simply can’t compare 10 years of watching them week after week on telly with a 5 minute clip on YouTube - playing at a far lower level !! It doesn’t matter how much experience she’s had if I’ve never actually seen her play or know what the standard was .. The ‘corridor’ comment was a throwaway remark that applies to males or females . I think you are just being deliberately obtuse now ..tbh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by Zizu; 29-01-2024 at 04:18 PM. |

Just because you haven't seen someone play does not mean they are not qualified to do a job they have been hired to do. If you want a debate, you have to be open to other opinions. Your throwaway comments are pretty off, yet you accuse me of being obtuse??? As a female lifelong football fan (I knew the offside rule before I could walk as my Dad and brother are football mad, my Dad played then took his coaching badges and then refereed when older and my brother was at Man U academy with the class of 92 but was dropped) my whole life revolved around football. I think it's amazing that women are now more represented and other girls don't have to feel like a tomboy for loving the game

The point is that many people feel the same a as I do .. the women pundits may well be qualified ( at a certain level) but I don’t know that for sure as I never saw them so I can’t take them seriously .. If they wheeled in some ex male footballer that I didn’t know then I wouldn’t take him seriously either so It’s not gender thing .. if they had some bloke sat there who we’d never seen we wouldn’t take any notice of him either It really is that simple Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Problem Last edited by Zizu; 30-01-2024 at 02:49 AM. |

I told you what my dad does when he doesn't like the commentators, he listens to commentary he likes. Many people enjoy the female commentary so if there are options surely that's the best so EVERYONE can enjoy the game??

There is no way of getting a radio commentary that is perfectly synchronised to the tv picture .. can you imagine if it’s a second behind the play or a second ahead ! I am autistic and things have to be perfect Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

My Dad rarely has a problem but he is quite deaf so probably misses half anyway but he can't stand certain commentators and pundits (he has a complete hatred of Robbie Davage so won't ever listen to him). He actually quite often watches one game on mute and listems to another game that isn't on TV too.

I actually like some of the women that have been drafted in as Pundits.
My main issue is why we're not seeing more men commentating on women's Football? Because it does stink of unfairness.

I still want to see Roy Keane do Punditry on a women's Football match though.
