They are meaningless unless you look 17 when you are 24.

Only other good use for them I can think of is to prove your ID for betting sites. But thats a negative thing

Maybe saves a the cost of a full passport for people just flying around the UK, but that's about it.

Waste of time and money. A bit like himself.

by Sir Keir Starmer to tackle illegal immigration.
The Prime Minister is expected to announce as
early as Friday
his backing in principle for a so-called
“Brit card” designed to combat illegal migrants

Can someone explain the reasoning behind this, is he saying the employers dont know they are illegal, there is such a thing as an NI number.... or ILR cards or any number of ways people can confirm their legitimacy to work in the UK, this man is an absolute farce of a PM

The cost of ID cards to taxpayers can vary significantly based on the type and implementation of the ID system. For example, a proposed UK digital ID card is estimated to cost between Ł140 and Ł400 million. Another estimate suggests that the total cost could be over Ł18 billion, or approximately €435 per inhabitant. These figures highlight the substantial financial implications of introducing ID cards for the public.

This was not in their manifesto they are foisting stuff on us that no body voted for

I've just spent 36 quid on a citizen card so I could withdraw some cash from a casino.

This better be free.

He's so politically deaf. He's already incredibly unpopular and chooses now to unveil a policy which has been an anti-establishment lightning rod for years. A popular government would struggle to get this through, never mind one on the ropes

And I don't even mind the policy really! It's just shocking judgement to do it now

I have recently had to provide additional ID information to Companies House because they now demand stricter details. If your ID is on a phone or a card, it means that you can be tracked wherever you are and what ever you are doing.

Will the police automatically lock up people without ID? Is that what a free society looks like?
