Yeah hence "right now" lol! I just don't think she can be called the current queen of pop, because she has two singles and an album which has barely gone platinum. There are other female artists (such as Britney, Madonna etc) who are still active after such a successful and long career and are still breaking records by doing so. I personally don't think Lady Gaga will be the icon of a generation like the latter were, her image isn't long-lasting because will eventually get bored of the whole shock factor she brings to her music and style. I hope she proves me wrong, because I'm a fan but I just think she got lucky with the songs she released this year.

I think she has something to stand out from the crowd for a long time unlike all these girls (Jessica Simpson and cie) who are trying so hard but don't have anything special.
Britney and Madonna have big careers, whether you like them or not, you can't deny it. I just think that Britney's career is not as good as it used to be (I'm not a fan but I'm realistic), people don't take her music as seriously as they used to and Madonna lost it a bit but she still is a reference.

I'd say 'first generation' being Madonna the Queen with 'Princess Britney' and as 'second generation', GaGa Queen with Miley or Katy as Princess.

I'm not dissing Madonna, I think she's good. But she has very little influence on youth culture. She is no longer the girl who guy's want and girl's want to be. She isn't cool with the youth of today. 'Hard Candy' wasn't a flop but no where near reached the outstanding success of 'Confessions..' & Madonna will never return to the stature of success she once had, but she's had a good run.

I agree. Madonna's had the ability to release hits over the span of her 30-year career.
