Using your reasoning about the play having a Jewish writer and director, then Ben should be allowed his opinion more than most since he himself is JEWISH.
I don't know a jew who doesn't find The Producers funny. I've seen the film and the stage version. I think most Jewish people take stuff in good humour if that's the way it's meant. It probably got negative reviews from Gentiles being outraged on our behalf.

Love Mel Brooks, incidentally... "Mr Brooks, what do you say to the people who accuse you of bad taste?" "I say up yours!"

You acted like no one batted an eyelid when in fact the film received mainly negative reviews based on its tasteless content.

My point is that as usual the PC brigade took it upon themselves to be outraged on behalf of the Jewish people, when in fact it was a pisstake that denigrated and humiliated nazism, not promoted it.

I've been to fancy dress parties where people have come as Nazi officers. It was meant as a joke and people took it that way. Of course, none of them were royal princes so no one blew it out of all proportion. Incidentally, before we get into the whole "tell it to Isreal" question, I myself come from a long line of Red Sea Pedestrians.

What was the context he said it in though? That's what is important here.

Why would he give a crap about a Nazi fancy dress costume?

He has already made it clear he thinks that the Nazis should have been dealt with by non interference and appeasement in order to save money for the Empire.

Why would a little thing like that bother him?

It is wrong that people can go to prison for dressing as a nazi in Germany and Austria.

And I defend Prince Harrys' nazi stunt. He went to a party dressed as a nazi, now anyone who developed the idea that he was a nazi supporter or sympathiser on account of this... is just... really not with it.

It was a joke, and I applaud him for it because it was brave and not only that, the Nazi party was made up of deranged and deluded people who were just an entire embarrasment simply by existing. They are funny. Funny because of how illogical their actions and beliefs were. Unfortunately there is a horrendous dark side to the existence of the nazi party, and for this anyone who genuinely is a nazi supporter or considers themself a nazi (Romper Stomper) should be punished. But you can't take coming to a fancy dress party as a nazi so seriously.

The guy was taking the piss out of the nazi party. He was taking the piss out of a group of people who deserve no sympathy and really deserve to be mocked and ridiculed.

This of course makes it seem as though I'm defending Ben! Which I really am not... no way.
