I don't need to look it up, I saw the original film by Mel Brooks (who is Jewish) and took it for what it was, a satirical pisstake of the nazis. Only humourless a*seholes would take it for anything else. It might have got negative reviews, but the film was a MASSIVE hit, long before it ever got to the stage.
Using your reasoning about the play having a Jewish writer and director, then Ben should be allowed his opinion more than most since he himself is JEWISH.
