If the PS4/720 don't come out next year/early 2014, the WiiU will do well. It's been so long since the last new home console, you could sell pretty much anything at this point. And the Wii branding will sell millions alone. Can't see it failing.

Next years E3, the PS4 and Nextbox will definately be announced, the DS branding didn't help the 3DS sell did it? I'm a gamer and I still don't understand how the Wii U is any different, its very easy to mistake the Gamepad for the actual console.

Yeah, you may be right in that the WiiU is slightly too similar to the Wii name. Sounds like some kind of upgraded Wii rather than a full on new console.

Yeah, if I hadnt been following gamer news I would assume its just a new controller, rather than a whole new console, I don't think I've actually seen the base console by itself

I agree. I just seems like some slightly better Wii. It needs a new name and identity to avoid confusion with its predecessor. Nintendo need to define how it'll work too, but I guess all that will be ironed out in the next few days.

I'm really interested to see how games take advantage of the second screen on the controller. It would be great for something like Fallout. You could have the Pip-Boy down there.

They only just released Skyrim half a year ago, they wont be announcing a new Fallout already

They have to launch first, they don't have a choice with how relatively low the specs seem to be for a next gen console. It's going to look outdated as soon as the PS4/720 drop.

And I guarantee it'll be cheap. Hence they didn't go fall out on improving the hardware.

I can't see us getting anything about GTA V bar some low key Microsoft announcement that they will be getting DLC first or something like that.

Rockstar strike me as wanting to do things on their own. They can get more attention for the next trailer by releasing it themselves rather than letting it be a part of E3.

EA are here this year, right? I hope there's some Mirrors Edge news. They've mentioned a possibility of a Mirrors Edge sequel running on the Frostbite 2 engine (from the newest Battlefield). If they announce and demo that I will cry with happiness.
