I love Channel 5 documentaries aswell it really shouldn't be seen as the ****** amongst the terrestrial channels. Examples are Dirty Dancing which recently got about 1.6 million I think and the benefits programme which got 2.2 million. They would have faired just as well because they have an audience and people want to watch them. Finally you start with ratings are fine and end with saying stories of the bad ratings are true lol. But still a great post and much better than 99% of the rest on this thread. Obviously mines the best ![]() *Goes to look for Dirty Dancing dvd Last edited by daniel-lewis-1985; 20-06-2014 at 05:00 PM. |

Raitings for bb seems fine but when the benefit series is on every monday collecting 2+ million and then hotel inspector starting next thursday and thats collecting about 1.8million somone going to start asking whats the point of bb on channel 5 with 1.2million.

I for one ONLY tend to watch C5 when these shows are on, my particular favourites are The Hotel Inspector, Cowboy Builders and of course BB and CBB, meanwhile my mum loves NCIS and CSI. It's a very clever way to pull in a much needed audience, and it works with both young and old, something which many other channels fail to do.. look at ITV.. I haven't watched anything on that in weeks.. to me, it's all for adults and I find it petty and boring at the best of times! They would never push BB aside for their other shows, it's a staple among others. As I KEEP SAYING, Why would they get rid of BB, for attracting, lets say 1.5 million, when other shows attract more, let's say 1.7 million. It'd do the channel far more damage to remove BB than any other shows, remember it's TWO solid months of good ratings. Loosing that in favour of other shows which are only weekly, only 6-10 times, compared to BB's 60 to 70 episodes and that would be perhaps the most stupid decision in British TV. More so than when C4 decided to axe BB in the first place.. Another, MINI, rant over! ![]() |

Well I'm glad you (kind of) agree, I know ratings are lower than we would like, and yes I stated that but they aren't BAD. They're still well above BB12 and BB13 and you cannot except almost every series to increase on viewers.. that would be both silly and strange, particualrly as BB is in it's 15th year and millions believe it's the definition of trash TV, I beg to differ however.. Here's some more ratings info to see if I can change your or anyone else's opinion about these ratings.. BB14 OVERNIGHTS / FIRST WEEK 2.1m, 2.1m, 1.3m, 1.5m, 1.5m, 1.4m, 1.3m, 1.3m, 1.8m (1.6 AVERAGE) BB15 OVERNIGHTS / FIRST WEEK 2.1m, 1.6m, 1.0m, 1.5m, 1.2m, 1.3m, 1.2m, 1.0m, 1.0m (1.3 AVERAGE) (Just to point out.. the Second week of BB14 had a reduction in ratings, meanwhile the current series, BB15 has had an increase in ratings in its second week) BB14 OVERNIGHTS / SECOND WEEK AVERAGE - 1.3M BB15 OVERNIGHTS / SECOND WEEK AVERAGE - 1.2M CURRENT OFFICIAL - BB15 is only 80,000 viewers down on BB14 in terms of viewers (in it's first week), thus suggesting that although less are watching, far more are catching up in other areas besides the main broadcast show, this is incredibly good news as it further suggests this year's audience is slightly larger, despite the decrease in viewers as more are watching in other areas. (Lets also bare in mind that BB12 and BB13 often struggled to even hit 1.2m-1.4m) (Lets also bare in mind, ratings change so randomly, it's hardly a problem, remember the Daley Hazel episode, overnight data showed 1.7 million watched overnight, the highest of any highlights show on C5, all down to good advertisement and word of mouth) Another, MINI, MINI rant over! ![]() |

And ratings have actually matched BB14s ratings a few times/actually beaten them, BB14s ratings grew after the first couple of weeks Last edited by Jake.; 20-06-2014 at 05:12 PM. |

Yes! It's hard to judge the bad press and the 'terrible ratings' for this series when a single week can completely change the ratings direction. BB15 is just having teething issues, wait until this whole Power HM debate that seems to be continuos, begins to slow in tempo, then we'll see more fun and frolics, while still getting the desired friction and fear!

Ratings would be higher but the share would be flat, and often the share is deemed more important, as obviously it is a higher percentage of possible audiences. CBB Winter does terrificly well, however in reality, although it's like 1 million up on the summer series, it's share is only 2-3% more! I guess Winter has a lot of competition in terms of those watching TV, maybe they're all stuck inside!
