look obviously there has always been contention between the words used to describe either black people or gays etc

tbh I don't think it's me that needs to look beyond the surface value of things, ie: women posing naked is not artistic, it is gratuitous titilation for the benefit of men and at the expense of women.

Totally agree. Surely allowing homophobic slurs for someone on the basis of them being unpopular then becomes a minefield? How do you contain the use of the word? Who decides it's ok for one and not another? By the way I'm no fan of Perez and I am gutted that Alex has allegedly left.

Well, I have to agree to disagree with you and your gay friends. In my opinion, being intentionally homophobic is wrong in any context. There are a lot of other words to use if you wish to insult someone, if someone chooses to use a bigoted term (and not in the heat of the moment, but intentionally in a bid to hurt who it's aimed at), there's no defence of that as far as I'm concerned.

I certainly wouldn't refer to a black person with the N-word to hurt them just because that individual happened to be a horrible person. Frankly, that would make me a pretty terrible person too.
