Looked at the results of this and lo and behold the lefties have it on here.

Said so myself on a previous thread only to see smug comments along the lines of 'I was having a laugh' as SD was full of the far-right. Point proven I think.

Well for one, bizarrely, the heavily right leaning posters seem to self identify as centrist more than right. I'm not sure what that is all about. Secondly, over 30 people have voted on the poll and there are not as many as 30 regular SD posters.

Imagining that every regular has voted, and with there being only three "right leaning" vote, I can only assume that at least 5 members are lying to themselves because off the top of my head I can think of at least 6 to 8.

I take your point about how many voted as was aware of that when I made my comment but as the so-called 'far-righters' speak their minds on certain subjects I don't believe they would hold back on such a poll if they believed themselves to be far-right.

I honestly made the poll because I assumed nearly everybody would select one of the middle three options. I didnt see these results coming either.

Whats most confusing me is why there is so little support for right wing? Why have all but three ignored the poll? Or are the tibb members we believe to be right wing actually more in the centre?

There was one person in the thread who I would have thought would select one of the top two options, but they believe themself to be in the centre.. i guess this could apply to the others we assumed were on the right?

I made the poll anonymous to encourage truthful answers, maybe a public poll would have been different?

I voted right-leaning as that is my opinion. In a way you confirm my point as you appear to assume someone to be far-right when that is not how they see themselves. That is your opinion, not fact.

Also some posters who many would likely describe as far-left voted as left-leaning or centre so there is a very obvious flaw in such a voting system, as nobody really knows anyone, only their viewpoints on certain issues, so judgements made can only be opinion, not fact.

I didn't vote in the poll.I find it too hard to categorise myself.My political compass has me at slightly right wing and slightly libertarian but then i've never voted Tory and there is loads of their decisions I don't agree with and some of Corbyns that i do.
I think i'd have needed another twenty questions in their to get a full enough picture to categorise myself.

I don't think i'm that unique.I think i'd fall into the category of disenfranchised voters who have been left without a political home due to Corbyn and the far left taking over the Labour party.
I have never voted Tory and never would because I believe in a fairer more equal society and totally disagree with things like bedroom tax and hitting the disabled and homeless.I think Tory austerity is too far,I don't think zero hours contracts should be forced on people when they're probably better off on benefits,I think workers rights are important and believe work should pay a living wage.I think on balance things like the railways should be nationalised so there is a body we can hold accountable etc etc.All things Corbyn wants.

But....

I'm against over taxing and alienating corporations because i'd rather we attract businesses and encourage competition,I think the NHS is possibly unsustainable and needs to be looked at realistically and all options considered,I think immigration needs to be controlled better and worked on to be reduced,I believe in British jobs for British workers first,I believe that when people come here they need to fit in with our culture and not the other way round and i don't believe Islamic ideas such as Sharia should be pandered to in any way as i think Islam is the most backwards of the three main religions,I'm against these parallel societies who make their own rules which can contradict the law and believe in taking a hard line on terrorists and their sympathisers.
On top of that i think Corbyn seems like a nice chap but would be a terrible PM as he is clearly imo incapable of taking the hard decisions,He would possibly obliterate our defences and has already taken a position which would castrate our nuclear deterrent were he to become PM leaving Europe in a more vulnerable position and i don't like him calling terrorist organisations like Hamas "friends".

So after all that i'm probably a right winger in denial with left wing tendancies.
I'm politically homeless and find it extremely difficult to "pick a side".I'm not even on the fence.I have a position on all these issues just no party who caters to them.
However i think there are many many people like me.I know plenty.
Modern society imo is waay too complex to put everyone in these left/right/centre pigeon holes.I would vote centre but i don't think that covers me as it suggests a more moderate position on the issues than i have.Hence why I didn't vote in the poll.

I don't know how to copy the chart across, was as honest as I could be, and scored as sitting right on the A/L line and 4 columns into the left, so for those who believe in in this I apparently veer more to the left. Says a lot about all this far-right c**p then.

I guess it's beause I do have views to the left on some issues, but not on mass immigration. I think that is probably in keeping with many. Some people just like to label those not supportive of mass immigration in itself as being far-right which is nonsence.

I also think that some people after they've studied or even just learned abit about politics and this so called left/right divide will change their thinking on many issues so as to identify with a particular ideology rather than letting those ideologies reflect their position.
That's not to say that nobody should change their mind on anything.I've softened on many things over the years but not just to fit into one of these pigeon holes.
