I want Cat Deeley to step in for him on all hosting duties while he is in rehab.

...so, so good that no one was seriously hurt...but still awful for all obviously...

...it’s very sad to see someone ‘self destruct’ with any addiction...I don’t know what decisions Dec will make in terms of his career if Ant became ‘unemplyable’ while he gets well...and hopefully he will get well...whether he’ll look for another partner for the moment or whether he’ll ‘go solo’...or whether he’ll take a break himself...they have a very close friendship so I think his thoughts and focus atm will be on Ant’s well-being, not so much career stuff...

He obviously has some demons to deal with, maybe he wasn't as well as he thought, kinda feel for him and kinda don't ,he really is silly for drinking and driving, this could have been terrible for him had anyone been killed ,but he has had such a good career and it's a shame his addiction may cost him dearly. The press will also be relentless which wont help.

I think Dec could go solo and continue his career, someone would give him his own show

SNTA has got very dull, and repetitive...and all the good segments have been axed, so all we get is dull singalongs, and boring members of the audience..it only gets 9 million viewers because of Ant and Dec, I can see him make a grovelling apology which will be accepted and things will carry on as usual

Lorraine Kelly and Dan Wooton fawning over him this morning,Lorraine saying "poor fella" , not one word about the little girl who was hurt other than her saying "HE will be devastated".

They don't appear to have charged him yet so I am thinking that he may have blown over at the roadside but been under on the test at the station. Never known anyone done for drink driving to be released without charge if they are over the limit at the station. Even if he was under the legal limit, I would imagine he will get done for either dangerous driving or driving without due care and attention if the accident was his fault. It will damage his reputation regardless but I would imagine he will come back from this.

His demons have not been sorted and so he should get help before he does something more reckless

I find it shocking how many people are willing to overlook this incident, just because it's ant from Ant and Dec. People are even wondering if Saturday night takeaway will still be on this week... I love their shows but I view this as I would to anyone else who had driven under the influence which possibly could have killed people and has injured people, the guy is an ill man yes, but he still needs to face the consequences of his actions. What he did was reckless and would be completely unforgivable if he had killed somebody even then I honestly think people out there would still be saying aww poor man we forgive him. People have a distorted view of the situation because of who he is and how popular the shows are. But remember if this had been a member of the public or even a celebrity who you don't like even with mental health and addiction problems you would still want justice to be done not them to be able to say sorry and then have them back on to prime time family tv on a Saturday night. I do think his career is now over

Sadly though we won't find out who actually is responsible for stealing the celebs in Saturday knight takeaway

I don't know, if he has £60 million I can't feel too bad for him not earning even more. If anything I'd say he's incredibly lucky, his addiction almost cost the life of a 3 year old girl. I do feel bad for him struggling with his demons but career wise I don't think he's really owed anything.

I think I remember reading years ago that Ant and Dec have some sort of insurance where if one of them is no longer part of the duo, the other receives a payout to cover future potential earnings. I'm not sure if it was only for injury or death though. I think Dec could probably have a career on his own (or with Cat ) but I don't think it'd be at the same sort of level.

I get what you're saying, I don't think it's that people want to downplay what happened though, it's just that naturally people are also going to wonder about his career since he's in the public eye, rather than saying that because he's in the public eye what happened is ok. Part of this story is that he's Ant from Ant and Dec so there's going to be a curiosity about what might happen with that, as well as the actual incident itself.

I get what you are saying Jamie ,I didn't really mean it would cost him dearly moneywise, money doesn't always bring happiness, more on a personal level ,he's already lost his marriage and could maybe lose his career, but agree that the life of that young girl should be paramount, and he should be treated as any other offender.

I wouldn't say he is a drunk driver, I never want to see him on my TV screen again. Maybe that's just me. If he goes to court and gets a conviction why does that have to affect his work. I could see it being an issue if he needed his car for work, but he doesn't. Plenty other entertainers have been caught speeding, drunk driving etc, and it has never affected their careers

I didn't know he'd lost his marriage (I don't really know a lot about him tbh). It sounds like with all his problems he could maybe do with staying out the public eye and just focus on himself, it might actually benefit him in the longterm, if he didn't have the added pressures of a career like his. So many of them seem to go down the route of drink/drugs I'd wonder if the career itself plays a part in that.

He will probably be given a driving ban, and if not then he should seriously consider not driving again until he sorts his problem out.
I don’t see why he should be sacked either, as you say, I don’t understand why it would/should ruin his career.

They were together for 20 odd years, so life couldnt have been that bad for each of them, and she is going to walk away with 20-30 million in divorce settlement, so it's not like she will be struggling. It may well have been part of the separation agreement that she left her job

I don’t think he got her fired - I’m sure producers decided it was best for her to go due to circumstances. She posted on episode 1 on social media to say how proud she was of the show and everyone behind it.
