To me there is religion on one side, and faith on another. I guess being half russian half italian and born in France never really helped because my dad is Orthodox and my mum is a Catholic. So basically I "chose" what to believe in from both worlds. Faith is what you decide it is for you, religion is basically what rules beliefs.

So I would say I have faith but I don't believe in the whole "religious" thing with its outdated rules and principles. To me it doesn't serve any purpose, but I don't force it on anybody, nor anybody forces it on me.
Because at the end of the day, I sleep with whoever I want, do whatever I want, I probably am a really big sinner. And so did and was Jesus. So I really give zero fùcks about it.

The amount of hypocrisy I've come across in my long life amongst various religious doctrine and faiths have led me to understand... it's all man made precepts. Some are made to keep the masses in line (like the rules around sex as in the OP), some to make you feel better about you doing you.

I think that's where I have landed as well. Being a believer doesn't mean agreeing with everything that comes with it. To me it's not a package, it's also what makes you feel better at a certain time in your life. The amount of hypocrisy, weird stuff, scandals and robbery put me off the whole cult thing a long time ago. However I do appreciate the history of the buildings, the place religions/cults had in many civilizations and where it got us today, of certain historical facts that can possibly lead to understanding where it went wrong and how it still control masses.

...yeah this is where I am with it all as well...I do have faith but I don’t have religion because the two things are not intertwined for me...I have faith and belief in many things and many people..well in most things and most people I would say but very specific things also but those things are not aligned with any religion...because it’s all about forming your own guidance in life, what fits with an individual and what makes sense to that individual...I was extremely young in life when I felt so many hypocrisies of Catholicism which I just couldn’t gel with, with my own thoughts ...so sadly we had to part ways and be divorced a little bit because we found it too difficult to live with each other ..but I still believe some philosophies in the bible, you know...(as I believe in many different philosophies..)...there are some great moral bible stories which are a part of my own beliefs etc... but then there are also ‘religious rules’ that don’t fit with my beliefs or life philosophies at all...

...for me the fundamentals of the religion I was christened into is the heaven or hell concept...so if someone is ‘good’ they will go to heaven and if someone is ‘bad’ they will go to hell..?...apparently and allegedly etc...a very black and white concept with no grey areas really...but then this life which has apparently been given by God is full of grey areas...there is no black and white about any aspect of life for anyone so far as I can see.....and then it’s also defining what is good and what is bad, what would define that place in heaven being assured, you know...I would be spending my whole life over thinking and working that out as well and then my whole life would have gone by ...and I wouldn’t have had time to have lived it or have loved it etc...but faith yeah, religion no ...is the gist of it all for me also...
