Harry and Meghan, whose 'no holds barred' CBS interview with Miss Winfrey will be broadcast on Sunday in America and in the UK on Monday at 9pm on ITV – which reportedly paid £1million – hit back at the allegations in The Times. A spokesman claimed the newspaper was being 'used by Buckingham Palace to peddle a wholly false narrative' before the interview.

Yesterday a senior Palace source told the Mail: 'This is absolutely untrue. We haven't been 'peddling' anything. It's disingenuous [to suggest that]. There are far more important things going on in the world [a reference to the pandemic and Prince Philip's hospitalisation] that have been focusing our attention, rather than the circus around a media interview.'

Another source added: 'The Palace has 100 per cent refused to discuss in any way, shape or form the interview.

'Every journalist that has been asking them about it for the last week or so knows that.

'The view from the start is that nothing good is to be gained from doing that. Their view has not changed. The suggestion that this is a Palace-orchestrated smear campaign is deeply offensive and patently false.' - Rebecca English, Daily Mail.

Despite my dislike for Meghan, who I think has been a driving force in this whole debacle...I think Harry has shown so much disrespect for his family. No matter how he feels about the press...he is showing no respect for his Father, brother or grandparents. Meghan has no respect for hers and Harry is now doing the same.
Such a shame...they are coming across as two self centred people who think they so precious and so deserving.
Their selfish and self absorbed entitlement in the times we are living in speaks volumes. I hope it comes back and bites them in their precocious bums...

A new clip has been released where Megs says the Royals perpetuated falsehoods against her, so the narrative has changed and it’s not the racist press now so that looks like both families alienated now, never mind at least they have good friends in LA

...it isn’t in any way unusual for some staff to leave their jobs when there is a change of ‘boss’, as they say and someone bringing in tweaks and changes etc that aren’t agreed with ‘ because we’ve always got on wonderfully running it all our way’...etc..we know that’s a very common thing...people often don't like change in their workplace and I think with Royal household staff, for some, there would be another layer of being Royalists and loving ‘Royal traditional ways’ and a resistance to that new boss in her being someone who doesn’t understand that she can’t make any changes to how ‘royal things are done’...how very dare she...I recall some kind of headline a long time when Meghan did some small everyday thing ...(...I can’t recall what it was...)...for herself in public and the vibe of the article was...’but we don’t do that, we have staff to do that for us, things have to be done our way...’...etc...anyway, so far as actual bullying allegations, I abhor bullying and it has to be investigated always...allegations of bullying and actual bullying taking place are something that have to marry together....


...I agree though, with what some TV news media have discussed in that this was 3 years ago and those allegations were very much known but no acknowledgement or comment or investigation etc at that time...3 years later and it’s referred to again and almost within moments, an investigation is declared to be being started immediately...and all within days of a ‘tell all interview’ ...I don’t know what the outcome will be but I personally feel, whichever way...for Meghan, for Harry and for the Royal family etc...this won’t reflect well and the Royal family didn’t act to protect either Meghan or royal staff...

Also they probably feel now that she is no longer, a member of the royal family that they, are free to open up about things, it was first reported in 2018 when she was a royal

...no one knows what will be said in the interview but obviously it is being said by all that it’s a ‘nothing is out of limits’ interview...but it can also be looked at that why would anyone take some kind of ‘defence stance’ unless they felt there would be a possibility of an attack coming against them and why would an attack be assumed as ‘victim’ is being claimed and Meghan the bully and aggressor etc...it would make no sense that she would draw any attention for the very reason that, that would possibly lead to this investigation that’s happening now, which she’s claiming are all convenient falsehoods to damage her story....anyway, we’ll see what the investigation brings plus listen to her words...I wonder how the investigation will be done and who will conduct it...as it would have to have impartiality....

The people who felt bullied by her felt bullied then. As I said, people on this forum said they heard of it at the time. My problem is if was known then, the Palace had a duty of care to investigate it THEN and they have neglected that duty until it became apparent that they may need some damage limitation or to at least make people doubt whatever it is Meghan has to say.

The people who felt bullied absolutely need some support but they needed it then too. Now they have fully stepped back, there is little they can do to rectify the situation, other than possibly throw money at it. If it were investigated and proven at the time, when Meghan and Harry were still working members of the family, there could have been a better resolution.

I think it stinks of a knee jerk reaction and the people who feel bullied will be used as pawns in a power battle

I don't know what the lines are for Palace Staff, and who is managed by who, is it possible the Queen was not aware of it at the time and it was dealt with by someone else? The line coming out this morning from the Meghan camp is that she is a Diva and very demanding but that that is not a bad thing

Oh absolutely, I am sure the Queen is completely unaware of HR issues, like most bosses, she will employ someone to worry about that. I am not blaming the Queen at all but someone within the organisation has let these staff members down by not dealing with it appropriately and to now decide to investigate shows little concern for the staff members and more that they need some ammunition.

Like you said, its playing out like an awful tv show.

...yeah, this is what is being more discussed by the TV news media that whichever way this flips in terms of, was there bullying involved or not...?...the Royal family failed to protect either Meghan or Royal staff in their duty of care...so it doesn’t reflect well on them...there are no ‘winners’ here, whatever the outcome of any investigation...
