My initial point in this thread was that this thread had already become defensive. I didnt post until a number of people had gone off and made comments like 'Who the ****** cares' and you made your comment about PC quotas. You were quite dismissive from the start.

Defensive of the fact that there is some ulterior motive for the house being "so white" as the OP put it. It's "sad" he called it.

I dismissed it because, as this is the UK, it is not strange at all that a group of 8 strangers would be white.

I made a comment on PC quotas because I don't feel the need in adding a black person just because everyone else happens to be white.

Yup this is my opinion too.

I dont see why they should have a virtual checklist box of minorities..

EVERYTHING about the selection process should be about personality and how good a housemate the person would be. To select some on personality then say 'oh well X was ok, but Y was better, however X is a minority of some kind, lets pick them to be diverse' is ridiculous

You saw an ulterior motive in the OP's sadness and surprise ? You always respond in an ultra defensive way to all topics like this am I to presume you always see an ulterior motive? Personally, I see a relevant point that deserves comment.
