For now, anyway, we are happy for a monarch to have that ultimate power. Things may change in the future and we may want to give the power of veto to a politician. I don't see that happening any time soon.
I find the idea that the queen of all people needs a veto to be laughable. The monarchy has more to teach us about acting like despots than even the Tories could muster.

She is not a parent reprimanding her children. A symbolic power is useless when it comes to the ruling classes, otherwise the prisons would be full of bankers.

Completely remove the church and the monarchy from politics.

They reckon the evolutionary advantage to women s**ting all over babies heads, is it kick starts the immune system into action straight away.

Evolution will kick your ass into shape.

Genuine question for Royalists - what is the excitement? Why do you care? Not judging, clearly millions do. I just dont get it.

Well the baby will almost certainly grow up to be King/Queen of the UK and the head of state of 15 other countries, people are just interested in seeing their future monarch make their entrance in to the world, especially as there's been quite a lot of excitement around William and Kate themselves with the big wedding a couple of years ago and the new legislation meaning that even if it's a girl it'll still be 3rd in line to the throne

I'm not a staunch royalist by any means for what it's worth, but I do quite appreciate having a monarchy and take a vague interest in major royal events when they come around

I'm not a royalist but I'm not anti-royal either. Pretty neutral on the subject.

Interesting that Alex Salmond, although he now has the opportunity to make Scotland an independent republic, has chosen to stick with the monarchy.

As have places as far flung as Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc. They could have ditched the queen a long time ago: she doesn't even live in those countries.

I think we are a very long way from Britain becoming a republic. I'm willing to bet it won't be in the lifetime of anyone posting on this forum!
