..I think it still is that kick though Ramsay because this leaves it for him to go Rogue and for Rachel and Taylor's character to take leads...especially Taylor as he isn't a detective so I think him and Rachel working closely together will show what he brings to the 'team'...it just wouldn't have made sense for Colin to be dead and I think would have completely spoiled it for me because...what/why..?...

...^that was my thoughts as well/his wife, I'm not sure what the reason is though..hmmm, I'm a bit up and down with this series, the last few episodes have been a little slow right up until the endings of them and then it' picked up a bit but I'm not sure that I'm feeling the characters as much as the first series ...

I'm not enjoying this series as much as I did the last tbh, the one with Woody and Matthew just seemed to really captivate me from the very first episode but this one not so much, I feel it's dragging a bit and some of the stuff is really predictable.

I agree Josy. Also, everytime Vince and his wife have a scene it seems really awkward and the dialogue between them is terrible, so cheesy, I keep expecting to look at them and see them both holding scripts in their hands, feels like they're reading those lines for the first time. Colin and Rachels lines aren't fantastic either but they're able to carry it better.

I was reading another article about it actually that thinks that Season 1, the writing etc was as bad but Matthew McConnaughy made it good, this line makes sense :

From what I’ve seen of Vaughn, so far, he cannot. Part of it is the writing of Season 2 of True Detective, and part of it is the tone. It is grim and bleak and stagnant. There’s no energy. That’s not a good environment for Vaughn, who is being asked to deliver lines like this one with brutal dead seriousness: “You don’t want to look hungry. Never do anything out of hunger. Not even eating.”

Maybe McConaughey can deliver that with a little of that Rust Cohle magic and make it work, but when Vaughn delivers it, you don’t experience the performance, all you hear is the line and you cringe (and you cringe a second time when that line is being called back to later in the episode)

I thought the writing for Season 1 was really good too but I've read a few of Rusts lines and they are very similar to the stuff Vince is getting, they just sound better coming from Matthew.

The storyline was better and easier to follow in season 1 though, I think because there was only 2 main characters and one murder investigation rather than 4 main characters and a murder
