I've given two out today anyway - one to Mark because I was glad he'd come back to the forum, and one to J.C. earlier today. I'll give out another when I see a post that deserves it.

I think an optional thing might be the answer - we'll see when Mark next comes on.

I think the optional thing is the way to go really, it's pretty harsh on some people getting negative karma for seemingly nothing, I can understand it for spamming or text speech but some on negative karma have not done any of that.

In an ideal world those being given it would be getting it for a lot of great posts but I just cannot see it working out like that especially if and when arguments break out. There's some people making great posts and not getting anything.

I like the idea if everyone sticks to the plan but unfortunately it's not looking that way, it should be good for when BB starts because there are some very good posters who always make good posts however i have noticed that certain members have already been awarded with karma yet it only came onto the forum in the early hours of this morning plus those people have hardly even been on. If people want to give karma out it's not a problem but if your going to then at least do it for the right reasons instead of making it some sort of competion as to who can reach whatever number first, we all want this to work and remain a tibb feature so let's try not abusing the whole thing that way it doesn't have to be taken off.

I didn't expect that all. Thanks! I still think this karma thing will take getting used to, because to be honest I've not done anything different today, but if people feel I should be rewarded for my posts then I won't argue, lol.

EDIT: As I said before, I hope this isn't abused but it's early days yet. And with BB coming up it should be useful. But I can still see the optional thing happening.

It'll just be down to popularity in the end. Friend's will give positive Karma and enemies will give negative.

I don't care where mine is to be honest. As long as people don't take it seriously, then no harm is done.

(Still only given one to Mark this morning, when I see a worthy post, I will then give)
aww Sophie, that's a very good example of what happens when the system is abused. It would be wrong to take away karma points just because of a member's opinion or because of who they are a fan of. I'm not surprised it didn't feel great. I think and hope this would be spotted very quickly on this forum and those members would then be advised of the real reasons for giving negative karma. IMO we should all consider using far more of the positive button than the negative one. I think it will work well

You can reward people with a point for a good posts and takeaway a point for bad posts basically.

I gave you karma btw.

This is probably just a first day type of thing. Members are probably wanting to try the new system out and are no doubt considering their most positive vibes from recent posts as opposed to just today. As for the negative votes being back dated so to speak, that is a bit unfortunate but it should settle in within a short while.

I like it and i think during Non-BB TiBB it work very well but with BB coming up people will give Karma to people who support the same housemates as them and it will be abused - Not by all members mind, just maybe the immature text talk members.

But i do like it and i think we should give it a chance before we all plead for it to be taken off.
