I listen to The Beatles because I like them you fucking moron. I can't help it if my main interest in life is sitting in bed listening to music all day.

I didn't listen to them last night anyway you dolt. And I'm far from the only one who is playing them. The Beatles would not have 'cheated' to get to the charts. They would have got there fair and square based on ... you know ... people listening to them. The motivation behind that listening counts for nought - they were still listened to.

Cheating would involve ... what ... hacking Last FM?

Like Garry said, people will get bored of constantly playing the same stuff anyway just for the sake of a chart and it will settle into normality soon enough.

I don't really care about listening to someone non-stop just to get them higher in the chart, I listen to them non-stop because I like their bloody songs.

this week people are blatantly trying to get them #1, people have said it themselves and if you look at their plays this week in comparison to last week then it's clear.

For the record I don't even have a single Beatles play before this week because I only got a DVD that has all the remasters this week and burned it into the iTUNES.

I think people are saying they will get them to number one because they know they are listening to them and it's a possibility. The music is still being listened to if you catch my drift, so it's not 'cheating' in the classic sense of the word. It still reflects the TiBB listenership because ... well ... it's what people are listening to.

And hey, if more great music listening is being encouraged, it can't be all that bad.

Well of course there'll be people who will listen to artists more now than before, because they have an incentive.

But they wouldn't be listening to them non-stop if they didn't like the music, would they? So they're listening to their favourite artists anyway, which is what the chart is about. To get a weekly view at the forums favourite artists.
