Which means, as a result of you failing to find a majority vote, the Stab in the Dark has failed, and the killer cannot be identified. Luckily, the killer voted for one of these two tied players. Let's find out who

![]() The next morning, Alice awoke with a fright and snatched for her new prized lighter almost by reflex. She'd spent most of the night awake in a bus shelter, but must have drifted off around 3am. She noticed that someone had placed a blanket over her, and she couldn't help but feel terrified that someone had touched her. She searched around in what little light there was - it was 6:32am, her phone told her - and saw a thermos flask just a meter or so away. She tentatively grabbed for it, realising it was incredibly warm, and thirstily unscrewed the lid. It smelt like hot chocolate, she thought, and without due care for this kind stranger's intentions, gulped at it. It filled a hole. Over the next hour or so she played with the lighter and sat, looking idly by for wildlife or any signs of human activity nearby. The previous night, she'd watched with amusement as some backpacking latino led a drug addict down a trail of graffiti, and was almost tempted to follow them when she'd seen a rabbit hopping in the other direction. Two hours or so later, the morning sun broke, and she returned to those crossroads. ![]() The rabbit's headless body was where she'd left it, she was pleased to see, but the head had been kicked a few yards or so down the road. This confused her a little, since she'd left it just next to the body. She decided to peer into the houses to see if anyone had joined this little community. "That girl's back, Jack," the old woman called over to her husband in his armchair. "The one who kills animals?" "Yes, she gives me the jeepers." "We might have to do something about her, Beth," he put down his book. "You don't think she's responsible for all of these disappearances?" she returned from the window and placed her hand on his shoulder. "It's a possibility, dear, I mean she's been here a couple of days and she's already killing rabbits." "It just won't do, Jack-" "I know, hun, I'll have a word." He got up, and went to put his shoes on. |

![]() A night bus had pulled into Mount Carmel at just after 6am. A haggard-looking group of people got off, and loitered around for a while. Liam, an 18 year old on his own, set off for Centralia straight away, whilst Cameron and Audrey stuck around to get a coffee and some bacon in the depot's cafe. "So, who's meeting us there?" Audrey asked, totally besotted. "I told you, this guy called Max arranged the whole thing," Cameron bit into his bacon bagel, a small bit of cream cheese dropping onto his plate. "He told me there was a job for me," he smiled. "And what about me?" Running away from home seemed all the more stupid on reflection, but she'd been left with little choice after Cameron's parents rejected her and made her feel like garbage. "I'm sure there's something - it's a pretty big town. Bigger than home, anyway," he avoided the subject, and they continued their breakfast. Within half an hour, Liam had arrived in Centralia and received a couple of messages from his mystery friend. Just a couple of days ago, he'd been given a lifeline of an alibi by this guy and had to repay the favour. Looking down at his phone, the first was a photo of some random girl. The other was a text: Quote:

![]() "Do you think he'll be pleased?" Beth asked her husband, as he returned with the little girl. "Oh, I should think so," he smiled, "he did say that she was trouble." "I know, but-" With a sudden knock and flourish, their door opened and a young man entered. "Ah, Max, we were just talking about you!" Beth beamed, going to embrace him as he took off his coat and gas mask. "Now's not the time. Is she here?" he looked around, before he noticed the terrified, bound girl in their living room. "Good. That'll be all." He gestured for the elderly couple to leave, and they decided upstairs was the most polite option. Whilst sat on their bed - Beth repairing a hole in a scarf, Jack reading his book from earlier - they heard the front door open and shut a number of times, and a couple of phone calls being made. They couldn't make out the exact details of Max's conversations, but his voice was raised towards the end, and they could hear him storming out half an hour ago. Too frightened to disturb whoever else might be downstairs, they headed off for a sleep. A couple of hours later, Beth awoke and put on her slippers. She headed downstairs, a little groggily, and having near-enough forgotten about the goings on earlier, when she sniffed something most unpleasant. A trail of dirt - or was it soot? - led from the door to her living room, and opening the door she discovered a charred corpse hanging from her light fitting. She cried - an ugly, animal scream - for her husband, and he stumbled out of bed to her aide. Beth was too frightened to move, but she saw a letter on the dressing table. She shuffled across with her back to the wall, and reached down to read it. Quote:

Obviously. I'm just judging by the reaction on here. Maybe the cat killer isn't one of the people with 3 votes.
Even if you're still trying to imply I am the killer how would I know the outcome?
