Default Housemate's Alterior Motive?

HMs decided it would be only right to take the 20 plus grand from the prize money to purchase an artificial leg for "The Baron." Were they acting out of genourosity or the realization that this gesture would make a Steve win less likely? The Baron seemed to realize this too rejecting the offer as he can buy the leg himself out of the 100 grand.Dave then claimed if he won he'd spend half the money on opening an orphanage in India-a blatent attempt to influence the public.

I don't know what the motivation behind it was but I don't think it was right for them to suggest it. If whoever wins it wants to do that then fine but it should be there choice and shouldn't be pressured into doing so by someone who walked out of the house so it was never going to be her money anyway.

To me Steve looked embarrassed by the suggestion more than anything else

It's bloody patronising that's why. The whole point of Steve going in the house was to raise awareness for injured servicemen, and to show how well he has coped with the adversity he's had in his life. I doubt he wants to be treated as a charity case and he should NOT win on the sympathy vote either. If he doesn't win Big Brother on his own merit, then I see no reason why the winning HM should have to forfeit any part of their prize money to give to Steve.

As Ben rightly said, all the HMs have a back story and all of them have friends, relatives or good causes they may want to share the money with, and they should not be made to feel guilty or apologetic about it.

Steves a decent bloke but he's nowhere near funny or entertaining enough to win.Apart from his past there is nothing to differenciate him from the average bloke in any pub in the country.Enjoyed him putting the fear of god into Ben last night-"Stay away from my stuff Benny boy or your gonna cop it!"

I don't think Dave had any place suggesting it without talking to all the housemates first. He only spoke to half a dozen of them, then went to Steve with the idea. I really do think Dave made this gesture more to make himself look good.

And Angus58... totally agree with your post.
