Imagine Girls Aloud are in this series of the X Factor, instead of Belle Amie. They are five girls thrown together by the judges (for argument's sake; Simon, Louis, Dannii and Sharon Osbourne) and have only performed together once (at Simon's house.)
How do you reckon they'd have fared? I reckon they'd have been gone in the blink of an eye. Girls aren't going to vote for a girl band when there are cute boy bands and male solo singers to vote for instead; and Girls Aloud were a shambles for the first bit of their career, they definitely wouldn't have been able to pull it together for the first live show on the X Factor and Sarah Harding would have been the victim of the tabloids for saucy scandals in her past, Cheryl too... Bearing all of that in mind, should the X Factor scrap the groups and launch a separate show to launch groups if they're so determined to do so? It just seems stupid to build the hopes up of girls who have done nothing wrong other than look pretty; only for them to be dashed because girls don't like other girls. The girl groups are always predictably in the bottom two within the first three weeks, and any that make it further than that are extremely lucky. |

they are about the same. average singers who are just about look. GA could have been hundreds of other girls, but they ended up as them. It is not that they are great it is just that they got chosen.

Like you said, they'd have been out first couple of weeks.
They may as well ban girl groups from entering, because they're never going to do well, but of course that would lead to complaints of unfairness. So instead girl groups should just get the message that it is never going to work and not bother applying themselves. |

I dont think they would have made it past the auditions/judges houses to be honest.
Which is why I laugh everytime cheryl criticises girlbands who are better than the one she was in. Which doesnt take much. The only strong singer in girls aloud was nadine. She carried them. |

Girls Aloud were just lucky. very lucky. They got through their first album and first few singles just by being Girls Aloud and the show that they came from. They didn't really gel as a group until 18 months in and thats when they started releasing more catchy pop. I don't think it was until Biology (one of the best pop songs ever and ironically the song they did on Davina's chat show (i retain pointless information)
![]() I do like them though, they're the ultimate guilty pleasure ![]()

once upon a time people said a woman has a hard time to win BB and if you said a glamour model would win by one of the biggest percentages ever you'd get laughed at
Girls will vote for girls if they're good enough |

As was also said on here, Girls Aloud were just lucky, they wouldn't have got anywhere in this style of X Factor programming. |
