Ryan Giggs' father has said he has "given up on him", as the family patriach becomes the latest member of the troubled family to speak out to the tabloids.

Ryan hit headlines last year when he was revealed to have been having extra-marital affairs with former Big Brother star Imogen Thomas and brother Rhodri's wife Natasha.

Natasha took part in this year's Celebrity Big Brother in a bid to change the public perception of her, and was evicted over Nicola McLean last week.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the boys' father Danny Wilson said: "When I think back to the two of them as boys they had such a close bond. I taught them to always look out for one another and look after each other. They were so tight. I simply can't believe how it has all fallen apart.

"It has been difficult for me at times putting up with the grief that comes with being Ryan Giggs's dad. I have defended him to the end and even taken a knife for him. But what he has done to his own flesh and blood is beyond belief."

Wilson described how he was stabbed in the neck and face after confronting fans of a rival football team who were racially abusing Ryan.

He continued: "He hasn't even said sorry to Rhodri. I find it hard to believe my own son could have done this. I would never close my door to any of my children. But I won't defend Ryan any more. I'm through with it. I've given up on him."

Natasha recently admitted she "didn't have the balls" to come clean about the affair.

You can't put all the blame on Natasha. Ryan was just as bad and as someone else has said, had other affairs, which makes him worse. Just got to remember, it takes two to tango. They are both to blame.

Giggsy is no saint of course and neither is Natasha but the whole family should just shut up and move on.

Rhodri is no angel either trying to play the martyr when he has been in trouble before and has had a few liasions with some girls, all as bad as each other and need to grow up.

As for Imogen well she'll continue to do her thing.

I like the pisstake Giggs chant that goes on at Man Utd but do not condone adultery at all.

Natasha apparently said she was getting back with Rhodri and all of a sudden they are just good friends.

Rhodri says he won't watch United if Giggs is playing, fair enough but there will always be a pang of jealousy that he wasn't as good as football as his brother was.

I'm not condoning what Natasha and Ryan did...but really, this hate should stop. Natasha and Rhodri have a son and she has a son from a previous relationship, who are much more important than this hate. If they are both willing, and can repair their relationship, that is what would be best for their children......leave them alone to try. It really does no good to continue slagging off Natasha like this

AMMI,I agree with everything you said,sad world we live in.......we are all so fast to judge,must be so difficult for the innocent parties,they have done nothing wrong but I am sure they have suffered because of this.
