There’s been ‘no decision’ over how much live feed Big Brother 2014 will see.


The constant live stream from the house was ditched when Channel 5 took over the format back in 2011, much to the outrage of pretty much everyone who loves the show.

Petitions were signed and complaints were made but bosses refused to budge, with producers previously blaming the decision on the cost.

The more recent series however have seen more live streaming on eviction nights and after Bit On The Side which has attracted audiences of up to a million viewers.

As it stands, a representative for Channel 5 has commented that there is as yet no decision about the this year’s final format, including live streaming.

At least, no decision that’s been made public.



Big Brother narrator Marcus Bentley last year suggested that there would be more live feed on offer after impressive ratings.

He said: “Last year Channel 5 broadcast streaming after evictions these gained phenomenal viewing figures and I would imagine Channel 5 would like to build on that success.”

Unfortunately the decision to cut back on the live feed may also be down to the editing that would be needed.

TV watchdog Ofcom gave Channel 5 another slap on the wrist just this week for failing to appropriately edit just the one hour highlights for day time viewing.

5 people wrote to complain over discussions of a sexual nature and innuendos that had aired at 11AM on a Sunday.

Big Brother 2014 is expected to start on Channel 5 next month.

I hope we get those couple of hours in the late afternoon on 5*, I enjoyed those last year.

Especially if they schedule tasks for that time or whatever to make it a bit more interesting.

Genuinely dont see how people are surprised that there isnt live feed at this stage. Every year since it moved to 5 people thought it was going to return and it didnt. At the end of the day, Channel 5 probably feel they're doing grand without it

Meh I don't watch it anyway you hardly hear anything that is being said. If I wanted to hear all that bird sound I would watch spring watch.

Hate when people say this.. I don't really watch it much either but it's STILL important. This forum and DS will be full of threads reporting on everything that's happening in the house as there will be people who DO watch, and I'd rely on that information to get a better insight of things. It'd mean the producers wouldn't get away with anything and disputes or incidents won't be hidden from us.

Yeah but all the talking gets edited out so I have no idea what's going on. The only time you can see what's going on is when an argument starts and then it shoots to a picture of a door or a garden statue where all you hear is birds and helicopters. I mean what is the point. Live feed should be just that and shouldn't be edited you should get to see and hear everything that is going on. If they edit live feed really what is the point.

Yeah exactly. I used to only really watch l/f at the weekend in the evening (especially after an eviction) but you were always kept up to speed on anything happening through the forum and other people watching it

Without live feed they can pretty much manipulate and edit the show to their liking.
