woman is in hospital after the pavement beneath her feet opened up on a London street. Police and ambulance services were called to the site in Fulham’s North End Road at 8.40am. Early reports suggested the woman had fallen along with a child in a pram Eyewitness Kate Sissons wrote on Instagram: “OMG! Poor woman and pram just disappeared down this hole in North End Road. She’s stuck down there.” A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service confirmed a woman had been taken to hospital but made no mention of a child. The Met said they were at the scene dealing with a pavement collapse. Christina Lown, 32, is the manager of Cancer Research. Arriving just after the incident happened, she told Huffington Post UK: “A woman fell into a hole, the pavement opened up underneath her, the ground just gave way. “I didn’t see a pram or a buggy but the whole area is cordoned off now.” http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/other/...yaM8?ocid=iehp

I could be wrong, but looking into the hole, it certainly appears as if the pavement was artificially suspended on some type of framework and not your typical solid base?
