Sweden has legalized child marriages for immigrant pedophiles who wish to stay married to their underaged wives.

In a move criticised by many as promoting pedophilia, the Swedish government have defended their controversial decision saying that the huge influx of immigrants from polygamous and ‘sexually diverse’ cultures has resulted in a sensitive ‘humanitarian’ crisis.

Camilla Brunsberg of the Conservative Party contended that [adult and child] couples should have been dissolved. According to Brunsberg, the girls should have instead been placed in a residential care home for children and young persons, whereas their spouses should have been referred to the Migration Board’s asylum residence. Brunsberg argued that there was no other alternative, as all other solutions implied that Sweden was backtracking in its acceptance of child marriage.

Brunsberg also voiced doubt whether the underage girls really dare to say the truth about their situation when interrogated by Swedish authorities, suggesting that individual assessments in reality did not carry much weight.

Nevertheless, [Social Committee chairperson] Ingrid Hermansson argued that individual trials in cases of underage immigrants who are married will continue to be held, at least until the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL) comes up with different guidelines on the matter.

At present, Swedish legislation on child marriages seems to be applied differently in different municipalities. Earlier this year, the Administrative Court of Växjö ruled that a 14-year-old pregnant girl could be placed with her adult husband’s immigrant family, arguing that this was part of their culture.

A 14-year-old child bride from Syria came to Sweden and became pregnant with her husband, who is also her cousin. Now a Swedish court has approved of her marriage, because she appears "mature," and for religious and cultural reasons.

The girl was married off to a cousin when she was only twelve years old. In Sweden, she has been placed with his aunt and her family.

The social service authorities in Sweden thought her marriage is completely outrageous and took it to the justice system.

But the judge does not think there is anything wrong with it, since she was brought up with another religious and cultural perception of what is right and wrong.

In addition, the girl, according to court, is precocious for her age and early matured, so the court does not see anything wrong.

Thanks. Hard to know which news sources are dodgy when they're from a country where I don't speak the language! However, just looking at the site, and doing a bit of research, I was able to easily confirm they are not a good source for legitimate news.

It just makes me realize how confusing fake news is to people from somewhere else. As I'm an American, I can easily spot it in American news, but it's so hard when it's somewhere else.

And even if it was real news, seriously, a fourteen year old woman is pregnant with her husband of two years. Yes, it's nuts that she married that early, but if she's happy, then seriously, she's got a child on the way, she's better off married.

Of course, in some parts of America, girls used to get married off at 13 not so long ago. And religious nuttiness is not just a Muslim phenomenon. Christians have been just as bad, if not worse.

Yeah I totally agree, I'm all for helping people but there should be no new rules or giving in to practices like this that protect the most vulnerable members of our society. We should be going forward not backwards

It doesn't seem like any major news outlets have picked the story up which makes me doubt it's validity but if it's true then it's ****ing stupid. Children are not emotionally prepared or can understand what marriage truly entails. This only benefits peadophiles.

News Wire has been named and shamed by various other sources as an alarmist fake news outlet.

Spesia is a fairly new aggresive media news channel that's recently became a laughing stock after reporting grand mufti of Saudi Arabia issued a fatwa as per which a man can eat his wife in extreme conditions. It keeps coming up with similar stories about the Middle East.

People really need to research these news channels because some of them are desperate for a captive headline.

As for Muslims marrying adolescent girls (which is not pedophilia btw if that adolescent is of pubesant age), I think its wrong and I don't think we should be encouraging it in Europe.

In Sweden it is illegal to get married before the age of 18. However, the current law was written before the issue of child marriages that has happened before the concerned child comes to Sweden, therefore the Swedish Government has given the Justice of the Supreme Court Mari Heidenborg the task of reviewing how protection against child marriage, forced marriage and ‘honour’ crimes can be strengthened. According to the Swedish Minister of Justice, "forced marriage and child marriage must be combated.
