Default Glasses DILEMMA

So I have a scratch on my glasses and I need a new pair. The thing is, I think my prescription might have increased slightly BUT my own optician (who is excellent, experienced and very thorough, a consultant who also works within hospitals etc.) has no appointments available for ages and I really need new glasses ASAP.

So my dilemma is

Do I order a cheap pair of my current prescription from like Poundland Glasses dot com and wait for an appointment

OR do I get a Poundland Sight Test from a highstreet optician so I can order a more permanent new pair.

I'm a bit scared that it'll be done by a high school kid on work experience or something and they'll get my prescription wildly wrong. I feel that as a special, wonderful prince I deserve nothing but the best in terms of eye tests?

I have always gone to Boots and the opticians are excellent...you might get a kid doing the pre tests but the opticians are fully qualified ...if the prescription changes drastically and you feel it is not correct, you don’t need to buy glasses just pay for the eye test and wait for your own optician, get a copy of your current prescription to take with you so you can compare

If it’s a minor change they don’t always give a new prescription either

I got 2 pairs a wee while ago and lost one and broke the other but i found 2 pairs in a box of crap from auction and they worked ok for tv and driving so i use them (even tho one pair is for women and has gold bits on each side ) As for reading glasses you can get them for a few quid from Home Bargs

I would just get a sight test done anywhere and get a new prescription, doesn't really matter where its done surely if it's only gonna be very slightly different?

I needed one done to get a new pair of glasses recently and Specsavers gave me a same day appointment

I go to specsavers for they eye test. I have varifocals, so the buy one get one free becomes really expensive, because you don't get the lens for free.

If it's not been 2 years since your last eye test, i would recommend getting a pair using your current prescription. There is a very good reason for this. Every time you increase your prescription and get a stronger lens, your eyes weaken and you need stronger glasses, so going early will actually cause your sight to deteriorate quicker

Ive used glassesdirect quite often for an extra pair. The starting price can be very good and the quality is great https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk/

Me too..

I think you are better off making do until you get an appointment.
