Does one of your friends have one? I think you can just use their spare Joycon to join in and play (I dunno how that'd work? Like, what Pokemon would you have or would you share a party/) with them
It's looking like the Switch will be home to core Pokemon RPGs up until Gen 9 (which I'm fine with) but it'd be worth just checking out how Gen 8 looks first (also, Smash for Switch is more than enough reason to get a Switch IMO
