As a newbie I didn't want to withdraw bc didn't expect to qualify anyway and didn't want to make a fuss.
You are being very unfair drawing conclusions about people's home lives.
It's a harmless contest and it's nice to be liked and appreciated by others. It's not necessary but it's nice. People take it with humour regardless the result.
Sorry to say but it's you who seems insecure. If only you could show your softer side, without compromising your views of course, you could have better time here. As it is it's you who comes across unhappy. Glad to hear your home life is fine though.
I simply wouldn't make such sweeping and tenuous assumptions. It's simply not true.
