I think Cameron just doesn't really want to talk about his sexuality because maybe he's just figuring all that out, or he isn't straight and is yet to come out.

He is just a normal lad lacking a bit of self confidence. What we are seeing from him is just typical of someone who is not a wannabee, finding his feet and keeping himself in his comfort zone as much as he can. Give him a week or two and he will be just fine with everyone.
