It makes sense. It's easy to imagine him mispronouncing 'outfits' and it sounding like 'Auschwitz'; then him doing a 'kill the Jews' Hitler impression as a response to his slip of the tongue.
Such humour is subjective, one person could be hugely offended while another may not be bothered at all. Personally I dont think that it warranted an instant removal as its a joke at himself, not an antisemitic comment, but I can understand that others could see it differently.
