'Notable non-Brits are only eligible for honorary knighthood, meaning they aren't allowed to add “Sir” or "Dame" to their names. They do, however get to append the suffix “KBE” to their monikers if they so desire. Bono, Bill Gates, Steven Spielberg, and Michael Bloomberg are all technically “KBEs.”'

Yeah Bob Geldof got a knighthood too, but its symbolic rather than meaning anything ... which is different from a real knighthood which is symbolic and doesnt mean anything

“The US pop star, 25, is said to have been offered the award after she visited terror victims in hospital and set up a charity gig” (from the first sentence of the article linked in the OP)

No, she doesn't warrant one.
Then again neither do most of the people who get them. I do however admire strongly her turning it down. Full credit to her for that. |

Well it's been a joke for a long time to be fair, with it going to people for the great achievement of "Being a British celebrity and not being dead by 60". Which minor British celeb is pension age this year? Knight them immediately!

Angelina Jolie was given an honorary damehood tbh.
I definitely think she is deserving of some sort of honour, the reasons for giving her one sounds slight on paper but when you cast your minds back to those initial days and the gig a week later, she did a lot to unify people in grief and generally raise spirits in the face of a tragedy and plus, it would take more strength than people realise to return and perform at a place where such an attack happened only a week after it happened. I gotta respect her for turning it down though and the thoughtfulness of why she did it. |

I don't like her music at all but I have to respect and admire how she handled the Manchester tragedy. She won a place in many peoples hearts and raised a **** ton of cash to help victims and their families. If that doesn't deserve some sort of honour, I don't know what does

She already has an honour for that. Didn't she get something from the city of Manchester? Or did I dream it?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A damehood is definitely a bit much but she's quite deserving of something like an MBE/OBE (or the 'honorary' equivalent) after the MEN attack and her efforts following it.
