Speaking of which; this is the first Smash I've played since Melee, is it just me or is getting back onto the level after falling off MUCH harder in general?

Or is it just that I ended up exclusively playing as Marth, and will still be OK at it with Marth?

Because currently, if I go off the edge, 9 times out of 10 I'm screwed

That said, I've also only played handheld so far, I have a GC controller adapter for when I play docked and it might just be the controls. The tiny Switch buttons are killing me.

I hate when I can't play as my favourite character/they aren't good

In Mario games, I ALWAYS play as Luigi, and I really don't like playing as Mario (although it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game obviously). However, in Smash, I never play Luigi and I mained Mario for Sm4sh

I love Bayonetta 1 and 2 but I didn't play her in Sm4sh because she felt so cheap, and in Ultimate I barely play her but she seems a bit nerfed

Also I love Duck Hunt Duo and Bowser Jr but objectively their characters are bad </3 so I don't play them seriously, sadly

`I think a lot of people agree Lucina is better than Marth but Marth deals the most damage from the tip of his sword, unlike Lucina. Try playing Marth while aiming to hit with the tip of his sword, you may notice a difference

Don't tell Dezzy that Bayonetta is trash (even though she is) .

Its not so much damage that makes the difference, Lucina just seems to play more smoothly? I can play a round (if I'm on form) and barely get hit, she seems to dodge better, air dodge better, and I think can hit a quick smash faster on landing? I might be imagining it but I just seem to be able to get in attacks with Lucina where in the exact same situation with Marth, I'm getting countered or blocked.

Bayonetta's not weak, she's just not god tier anymore.

She's pretty much on par with everyone else which feels incredibly weak compared to Smash 4 but that doesn't make her weak, it makes her normal. She's gonna end up around the middle of the tiers when people start overrating her nerfs.

I've heard Lucina is meant to be good this time but it's apparently Chrom that excels when it comes to the FE characters.

I’ve cleared the map (all the fog has gone) but there’s still quite a few spirits i can’t get because i just can’t win the fights mainly 3*/4* ones bc their team power is like 13,000 and my max power including support spirits is like 10,000

Have you noticed that the AI can't seem to play Chrom though? I haven't played as him at all really, but it looks to me like he's slightly bugged, he keeps doing what looks to me like a down-b attack (a drop attack) instead of an up-b every time I knock him off an edge . Maybe it's just my copy . But literally every fight against him involves knocking him off the edge once or twice, and him just diving headlong into the void. Poor fellow.

Ahh I've played him now, his up-B ends in a "ground pound" style attack and the AI doesn't seem to account for it and tries to use it like a normal up-B (resulting in suicide).

I also can't play as him for **** for the same reason. And also because he's slightly too fast for me. I don't has the skillz. Lucina seems to be in my "goldilocks zone" where she's faster than a lot of characters but not so fast that I lose control and make mistakes.

So my top score on Classic by almost 200k is that random fire wrestling honeymonster thing and I'm not sure if I'm OK with that.

kids back at school so I'm getting to play docked with a GameCube controller for the first time. Game changer. I need to find a way to mod the triggers to be press rather than pull because its just not sitting right... But the button layout and the hexagonal housing for the analogue sticks makes it so much more precise than the sloppy switch controls.

I've had it for jat over a week and I think I have almost all the characters already oops I used to main Fox/Falco but now I'm finding myself most successful with Donkey Kong, King K Rool, Bowser, Ike, pretty much anybody heavy and slow???

Three Houses is an amazing game though, I'd eagerly recommend it. If it wasn't for RE2, it would have been my game of the year.

I mean if the Moveset is completely different I don't mind too much but I'd rather see someone else from Sonic/Starfox/F-Zero

Crash/Spyro/Rayman would be amazing but probably unrealistic.

don't get me wrong i do like fire emblem and i use some of their characters a lot but i feel there's enough of them at the moment.I really wanted something new or someone from final fantasy since there's only cloud.

I still need to get Three Houses.
