I'd say it's more likely to be the other way round (if this is even the reason); perhaps heterosexual women feel more pressure to stay in shape because of the widely-spread idea that men won't be interested in someone who is overweight.

Well yeah...probably on the right track, but odd conclusion I really doubt anyone 'becomes lesbian' because they are fat and think they cannot attract men.
