Kind of looks by-the-numbers. Especially all the Mitchell stuff.

Sean's return and Jean's storyline, however. And Ruby showing us her Allen.

I'm glad they've finally referenced some of Ruby's past on the show.

Them mentioning Juley taking her virginity.

They seemed to gloss over the fact Stacey treated her like sh*t before she left and opted for a "best friends forever".

I feel the opposite. The last few years the show has been fine with mentions of the past with character returns. The gay man from the 80s episodes, Dr Legg's funeral episode, Michelle's recast which saw consistent reference to past Fowlers etc. Kat and Mel's returns last year, Louise becoming a regular, Lisa's guest stint. The show mixes the history with the present quite a lot. Sometimes to its detriment.

But, they do seem to have a strong balance now with a big focus on new characters too. Which also helps the older characters feel less stagnant by mixing them with new groups.

EastEnders has revealed that Ted Murray will be returning to Walford soon, after seven months off screen.

Ted (Christopher Timothy) has been in Australia since last summer, when a health scare encouraged him to make the most of his life.

Ted's prolonged absence has left fans questioning if we'll ever see him again, but it's now been confirmed that he'll be arriving back in the Square next month.



Advanced spoilers released on the official EastEnders site have revealed that Bernadette will be left panicking when she learns that Ted is due back imminently.

Viewers know that Tiffany has been using Ted's flat to accommodate her drug dealing gang, meaning Bernadette now faces a race against time to prepare for his homecoming.

The teasers also reveal when Ruby Allen's rape trial will begin and hint at another nasty twist for Phil Mitchell.
