Love this film. An underrated terrifying, modern day horror flick that still holds up well for me a decade on.
Jack O'Connell was magnificent as the psychotic Brett, one his strongest (and most overlooked) performances.
That ending tho. Possibly the most horrifyingly, jaw-dropping ending to a film I've ever seen. What I love about it is that it's so unpredictable. As a viewer, you're expecting and hoping for Jenny to have a happy ending after everything she's gone through. Only for all of that to come crashing down the second she enters that house. It makes you infuriated and disappointed, which the
the director was intending
The director knew what they were doing with the ending, which is why I respect and admire their decision to go with that ending, rather than the usual 'happy ending' It would've been cliché for one of the protagonists to survive.
Also, the fact that we don't know what they have in store for her makes the ending even better. We can all presume they killed her then and there in the bathroom, but who knows? They may have tortured her even more. The parents may have been just as sadistic as their children.
