Maybe it's because I don't necessarily "seem" gay but it's never been an issue, to the point I don't even know why it would be, if that makes sense?

tbh that's a safeguarding issue - adults who are responsible for kids shouldn't be drinking, and that's completely inappropriate to ask.
(I'm not throwing accusations around, but any other adult who heard that would be obligated to report it)
