But the constant claims in this video that they were "escorted there by the police" in this video, just like the Tommy video, are utter nonsense. Is the claim that they couldn't have walked there themselves if the police hadn't "lead" them there?

Again - while walking there, they haven't yet broken any law, they're free to gather and walk to the rally if they want to. The police who are with them are obviously there to monitor the situation and keep the police on site informed via radio - they're not leading the crowd like the pied piper .

What are these videos suggesting that the police seen walking alongside the crowd were supposed to do at that point? "Now now chaps, let's turn around and go home shall we? Good lads..."

There's obviously nothing they can actually do within the law at that point so they're doing the only thing they can do by maintaining a police presence.

Honestly from the videos you'd think that if the police weren't there, the crowd would simply become lost, and wander off in different directions across the town in confusion.
