What's the issue? "Our Nicky" is even more "unelected" than Johnson, so what have the Scots got to bristle about?

What are you talking about? The SNP has been under Wee Nic since 2014 and won the election in 2016 with a clear majority of 55% of seats, and nearly double the popular vote of any other party .

She didn't have an election when she took over from Salmond in 2014.

In this case a General Election might inevitable, because the government has a majority of two, and many MPs are opposed to no-deal.

Let Scotland have another referendum, things have changed drastically and the vastly different landscape warrants another independence vote.

If Boris wants to legitimise his government, he needs to call a general election. It's true we don't elect prime ministers but elections are won and lost on the shoulders of Party Leaders and he is untested when even May who was reviled by most of the country managed to scrape a win.

If he'd said she WAS unelected at the beginning of her time as First Minister, that would be true.

Oliver's post clearly said that she *is* "more unelected than Johnson" when she has been as elected as it's possible for a First / Prime minister to be for over 3 years. His claim is just flat out objectively false?

You make all this big fuss about us leaping into the unknown with brexit....but without a thought or a care in the world you would let scotland have another independence vote unsure of the uks future if it went through......I don't get that thinking at all.

The UK isn't stable as it is so it's the best time to have one surely. The future is uncertain no matter what. I know that a lot of people don't believe that Brexit is going to have a dramatic impact but frankly I think that's because we're coming out of a long period of relative stability that we have largely enjoyed thanks to being part of the EU. Things in the UK absolutely can change, for the worse, and fast. So even if Scottish Indy is a gamble, it's not a gamble between "the status quo" and "the unknown" like it was last time... there is no status quo. The UK's place in the world is completely up in the air.

I think you're confusing me with someone else, I've been against another Brexit vote since it happened because nothing has changed since 2016, everything that's happened has been predicted by people opposed to Brexit in the first place. I don't want another vote on Brexit because I don't think the landscape has changed dramatically enough to warrant it.

We ARE leaping into the unknown.... Kinda. It's fairly obvious we'll just be swapping the EU for a reliance on the US and there's been endless financial and economical experts that have warned us repeatedly about the dangers which the brexiteers have ignore since it doesn't fit in with their fantasy. Let them have their Brexit, let the reality of what they've unleashed crush 'em.

Scotland is a different matter, in the past three years, they've been shown time and time again that their voice ultimately doesn't matter in the union and I think any of the member states of this union should get a vote if they want to stay with us and go into the oblivion that will be Brexit or go it alone.

And give a referendum to Northern Ireland. If they vote to unite with the Republic the backstop issue gets solved automatically.

To be fair... if there was a ref in N.I. and they voted to leave the UK for a united Ireland there would definitely be significant bloodshed.

They'll never say that those who want to stay can stay, because none of them would choose to stay, and that looks bad, so they'll have to make it "mandatory".
