Potentially. I remember reading a while ago when it was first announced they were unhappy with the first film so they’re just gonna redo it but better.

I read the director commenting that the terms "sequel" and "reboot" are too narrow, so basically it's somewhere between the two. Which I would guess will mean, the events of the original "happened" and are canon but it will also effectively be a semi-reboot in that there won't be a continuation of any of the events of the first film and it probably won't even be referenced much, if at all. And I'd imagine it's likely to have a very different style and tone. So it's not a "sequel" either, as such.

Agree, she doesn't nail the character... The Batman Arkham games have a better Harley. But then, they also have the best incarnation of The Joker so...

However, as ropey as she was, she was STILL better than most of the cast of the first Suicide Squad . Like, Will Smith was watchable as always, but he was Will Smith with a sniper rifle. He wasn't really Deadshot, was he. He can't play an antihero. Even the consistently ropey Arrow had a more convincing "ambiguous morality" version of Deadshot.

The original Suicide Squad had its problems because it was largely reshot to better fit the studio's image of what the movie should be, rather than the director's vision. The result is a messy hodgepodge - apparently there are like three different edits of the damn thing.
Gunn is decent with character stuff, so hopefully this movie will be better.
