Really awful. Poor woman.

Seemed to come out of nowhere too as far as I can see, like we were forecast rain but I didn't see any warnings or anything? Next thing I know everywhere's flooded here too and people can't get to work/kids can't get to school because the school bus can't reach them through the water! Crazy.

Crazy to think something like that can happen on a normal street in the UK in 2019. So tragic.

...very, very sad...when we do have severe weather/potential loss of life warnings, we could never fully take on board that we could lose a loved one../..family member ......just awful for those who found her as well...

...a huge shout out to the Emergency Service teams who have successfully rescued so many people trapped in buildings and cars etc..an amazing job.....

That’s what I was thinking.. . was she taken by complete surprise or something .. .. I’m always surprised by stories like this . You’d presume you’d have chance to avoid things somehow

Tragic, will have to dredge our waterways and rethink flood defences...and stop building on flood plains

A woman who died after being caught in floodwater has been named as Annie Hall, a former High Sheriff of Derbyshire.

She was swept away by the River Derwent in Darley Dale, near Matlock.

Emergency services were called in the early hours of Friday, and her body was found further downstream a short time later.

GMBHD itv reported
Live in Fishlake
The Council have said everyone must leave.

But with reports of Looters
arriving in boats some residents are staying put.

BBC1AM also reported Live there,
but only to a Council bloke
who would no say sorry for not updating residents.

Maybe "Fishlake" was the clue the developers should have heeded when building houses?

Areas in that region recorded 100mm in a day which is a lot

a very wet day in the UK would typically give 25mm

However Prades, Baix Camp, Spain recorded 287.4mm of rain in 24 hours on 23 October!

But rainfall totals are relative to your topography and catchment

The current world record for 24-hour rainfall came from Tropical Storm Denise in the Indian Ocean and lashed the island of La Reunion with an almost unbelievable 1796mm in 1966.

since 1972 there have been 6 wetter days on record in Sheffield (1972 tops it at 117mm in 24hours)

Last Thursday was only 64mm

For autumn as a whole its been pretty dry in Scotland and above average (in general) for England
