As far as I heard they've since said it was a fake but couldn't take the risk so had to do a controlled explosion

There was once a panic on a train I was on, because someone had bought a new pair of shoes in Glasgow, changed them on the train, and then left their old manky shoes in the new shoebox sitting at a table seat. I remember when they announced "It's just old shoes" .
